 Sommerfest in the Valley
at Mayfair Festival of the Arts

What's happening in 2010!

The Lehigh Saengerbund, the German-American Society of the Lehigh Valley, will once again work with Mayfair Festival of the Arts and present Sommerfest in the Valley 2010.  Sommerfest at Mayfair will again have its own unique identity in its own area on the Western side of the festival grounds next to Ott Street..

This year's festival includes an expanded program including a wider variety of entertainers that should appeal to a wider audience. Our theme this year is "German by Day, Rock and Roll at Night".

Returning traditional performers are  Josef Kroboth, Jolly Bavarians, Emil Shanta and Joe Weber.  Check out the WALN website for more information.  Be sure to attend the presentation of the Lehigh Saengerbund and Coplay Saengerbund choruses on Sunday afternoon.

New performers for the upcoming festival are No Heroes, Philadelphia Funk Authority, Flamin Dick & the Hotrods, Main Street Cruisers, and Crazy Heart.  From polka, doo-wop, rock & roll to line dancing this year's Sommerfest has a great deal to offer everyone.

This year we feature something completely different.  The Dachsund Rescue of Bucks County will organize and conduct Sommerfest Wiener National Race Day open to all Dachsund owners.  DRBC will have a mega-booth at the festival.  There will be on site check in/registration, space available.  Pre-registration is highly recommended.  Check out the DRBC web site for more information.  (click here for early DRBC Registration)

In additon to our main festival tent Sommerfest will host a European Cafe where you can come with your family, spouse or friends and enjoy a unique European culinery exerience.  We'll have our famous Kaffee und Kuchen, desserts and other treats.  Oh yes, for beer connoisers Sommerfest is the only venue that offers the world famous Spaten Bier, and other German and foreign beers.  This year, once again, we'll feature Jaegermeister.  See you at Sommerfest in the Valley 2010.

 We'd like your feedback!

We wish to express our sincere appreciation to all our sponsors, volunteers and participants for supporting Sommerfest in the Valley 2010.    Rain or shine we expect another great festival.  We wish to thank the Mayfair staff for again hosting us and helping to make Sommerfest a successful component of Mayfair. This year's festival offers a slight demarcation from last year's personified by our theme, "German by Day, Rock and Roll at Night".  In taking this approach we hope to appeal to a wider audience and to make them aware of the cultural elements alive and well in the Lehigh Valley.

Kindly take a look at our schedule of events.  We'd also ask that you visit our Sponsor page.  They help make this festival possible.  As we've done in the past we also have excellant representation from the German clubs at area high schools.

If you have suggestions or comments regarding this year's and future festivals please go to the Feedback section and send us your comments.  We'd especially like your feedback regarding the kinds of entertainment you'd like to have and names of specific groups that you'd like us to invite to future festivals.
