What's happening in 2010!
The Lehigh Saengerbund, the German-American Society of the Lehigh Valley, will once again work with Mayfair Festival of the Arts and present Sommerfest in the Valley 2010. Sommerfest at Mayfair will again have its own unique identity in its own area on the Western side of the festival grounds next to Ott Street..
This year's festival includes an expanded program including a wider variety of entertainers that should appeal to a wider audience. Our theme this year is "Polka by Day, Rock and Roll at Night".
Returning traditional performers are Walt Groller, Josef Kroboth, Jolly Bavarians, Emil Shanta and Joe Weber. Also returning for two segments is the award winning group, Squeeze Box, from Ohio who will have an advanced performance on Sunday, March 21st at Winding Brook, Whitehall. Check out the WALN website for more information. Be sure to attend the presentation of the Lehigh Saengerbund and Coplay Saengerbund choruses on Sunday afternoon.
New performers for the upcoming festival are No Heroes, Philadelphia Funk Authority, Flamin Dick & the Hotrods, Main Street Cruisers, Crazy Heart and Muddy Rock & Johnny Jay. From polka, doo-wop, rock & roll to line dancing this year's Sommerfest has a great deal to offer everyone.
In additon to our main festival tent Sommerfest will host a European Cafe where you can come with your family, spouse or friends and enjoy a unique European culinery exerience. We'll have our famous Kaffee und Kuchen, desserts and other treats. Oh yes, for beer connoisers Sommerfest is the only venue that offers German and other foreign beer. See you at Sommerfest in the Valley 2010.
